Dover and Hastings Hot Springs, 7 January 1940
After visiting Mount Wellington the party headed to another popular tourist attraction - Hastings Hot Springs. Hastings Caves and Thermal Springs are located in Huon Valley about 90 minutes drive from Hobart on modern roads. It must have taken longer in 1940. The house with two gables in the background in this photograph is still there and has not changed much in 80 years.
Several pictures were taken at Dover which is famous for being the southernmost town in Australia. Note for those outside Australia: a town is "a place where you can buy petrol and supplies".
